Flexographic Inks

Flexo Reverse Lamination

FLX1

FLX1 is an ink series developed for reverse flexo printing on flexible films and subsequently for lamination process with different film combinations by using good quality adhesives. The formulation pattern has been adjusted for medium to high speed machines at 200-450 m/min at printing.

The FLX1 series covers general purpose applications in packaging printing. It is recommended for printing of different types of lamination structures (chips, snacks etc), which may or may not need pasteurization or sterilization (depending on the choice of special pigments – contact your local Technical Department).

Substrate

  • Bi-oriented polypropylene
  • Co-extruded polypropylene
  • Chemically treated polyester

Solimax AP

Solimax AP is a range of high strength solvent based colors specifically developed for both surface and reverse printing adhesive lamination jobs across an extensive range of flexible packaging substrates. Suitable for both Flexographic and Rotogravure printing processes. They have excellent stability based on Sun Chemical high quality concentrates with excellent printability, low levels of retained solvents, high lamination bond strengths and heat resistance up to 170°C.

Solimax AP should not be used for other end uses without prior discussion of our local technical representative. These inks are not suitable for direct food contact and high temperature applications including microwave or oven able designs

Substrate

  • Chemically treated Polyester.
  • Corona treated polypropylene
  • Corona treated polyethylene
  • OPA
  • PVdC Coated Polyester.
  • Aluminum Oxide coated Polyester

Passion XP

PASSION XP inks are only four process colors specially developed and produced under the supervision of the highly experienced staff of Sun Chemical team to meet the exact demands of high speed flexo presses in halftone & gradation printing with HD plates and finest aniloxes.

Main Properties:

  • High color reproduction at low viscosity, high density with minimum dot gain on treated polythene film and certain other substrates.
  • These are quite suited inks with highly resoluble and well stable ink pot system with minimum cell clogging.
  • Also quite successful for the slow speed presses but with true reducer combination by consulting DIC local technical team.
  • Resistant to two side treatment and double side printing.
  • Anti static and good slip properties to enhance the packaging machine productivity.
  • Highly heat resistant with good adhesion, giving scuff and abrasion resistance properties.

Substrate

  • Treated polyolefin films
  • Low and high density polythene
  •  Two side treated polythene
  • Certain cast, orientated and co extruded polypropylenes.
  • Some cellulose films.
  • Certain paper based materials.

Flexo Water Based Inks

SATURN SB (TPQ-S)ESB

Saturn SB TPQ-S is the name given to a new range of very high strength water-based pigment dispersions specially developed under Sun Chemical highly skilled technical experience using highly efficient production equipment with internationally approved materials to compliant S009 standard.

TPQ-S bases are also very resistant to flocculation and shock stability during let-down.

Finished inks are produced from Saturn SB TPQ-S bases, by blending with “technology varnishes”. These have been carefully formulated to meet specific end user requirements for packaging of juices and milk products.

Substrate

  • Paper and board.
  • Labels, envelopes, film, tissue, and disposables.

WFX

WFX inks are formulated for flexo printing of multiwall sacks, corrugated or solid fiberboard cases, Kraft shoppers, sulphite bags and similar lightweight packaging papers.
They are characterized by their ability to provide high quality prints and maximum brightness over bleached and brown substrates. They show high color strength at low viscosity, rapid drying by absorption into the substrate, low odor on the press and are water reducible.

Substrate

  • Bleached, oyster and brown Kraft used in sacks
  •  Corrugated and solid fiber board cases.
  • Sulphite Papers used in bags and wrapping papers.
  • Other Paper based materials including certain coated stocks.
  • Sulphite papers used in bags and wrapping papers.

Surface Printing

Woven

WOVEN-Series inks are a range of flexographic/rotogravure inks formulated for printing onto untreated woven polypropylene heavy duty sacks. These inks will give top level adhesion and scuff resistance together with good gloss and printability

They should not be mixed with other inks from any other supplier as this may be detrimental to the adhesive properties. Colors have a reasonable degree of light fastness, but may not withstand extended exposure to direct sunlight. However if this this property is required, it should be stated when ordering.

Substrate

  • Untreated woven polypropylene.

FII

FII Series inks are a range of IPA-reducible flexographic inks for printing polyethylene and polypropylene films. They are suitable for applications such as carrier bags, bread bags etc. FII series inks are not heat resistant, so should not be printed in the area of heat sealing. They are not suitable for lamination. FII series inks should not be mixed with inks supplied by any other ink supplier.

Main Properties:

  • High color-strength, excellent gloss, good adhesion on treated polyolefin’s, good scuff and abrasion resistance
  • Clean-running on stack slow speed type slow to medium speed Chinese and Taiwani flexo presses.

Substrate

  • Polyolefin
  • Polyethylene, low or high density, transparent or opaque,
  • Two-side treated polyolefin
  •  Co-extruded polypropylenes.

STZ

STZ inks are formulated for Flexo Surface printing onto woven treated laminated Polypropylene substrate. These inks have good adhesion on treated polypropylene substrate, good scuff and abrasion resistance for printing heavy duty bags.

Substrate

  • Pre-treated or in-line corona treated woven Polypropylene

SPL

SPL inks are medium performance customized ink series specially developed for surface printing on PE, BOPP and PET film, suitable for oil and ghee jobs. The SPL series can be used for in-line/off-line process with a wide range of flexo printing speeds from 200-400m/min. Inks are highly resoluble with excellent dot reproduction in halftone printing and outstanding gloss.

Substrate

  • Low and high density Polyethylene
  • Two side treated Polyethylene
  • Co-extruded polypropylene

SGH

SGH inks specially designed to cover the exact demands of high speed flexo surface printing with excellent dot reproduction on treated Polyethylene film and certain other suitable substrates. These inks are well suited to run them on modern high flexo presses equipped with good drying capacity for proper ink drying.
