Rotogravure Inks

Reverse Lamination

TNZ

TNZ Inks are medium performance reverse lamination inks for gravure applications on BOPP and PET film for subsequent lamination with different film combinations using solvent based, solvent free and water-based adhesives.

Substrates 

  • Corona or chemical treated PET films
  • Corona treated Nylon films (treatment not less than 520mN / cm)
  • Corona treated OPP films (treatment not less than 380mN / cm)
  • PVDC coated films Cellophane film (Printing grade).

ASTERLAM / FLASH

The ASTERLAM ink series can be used for in-line lamination with a wide range of printing speeds. ASTERLAM inks can also be used for off- line lamination.
The formulation has been adjusted for medium speeds (150-250m/min) for chemical/electronically engraved cylinders. For the use of ASTERLAM inks at different speeds and conditions, please contact our local Technical Department.

Substrates 

  • Chemically treated polyester
  • Bi-oriented polypropylene
  • Co-extruded polypropylene

BRILL

BRILL inks are formulated for reverse printing of treated Polyester film by the gravure process for subsequent adhesive lamination in combination with suitable adhesives.

Substrates 

  • Pre-treated or in-line corona treated Polyester film/primed polyester. 

GPL/GSTAR

The G STAR series inks can be used for in-line and off- line lamination jobs. G STAR can also be used on a wide range of printing speeds. The formulation has been adjusted for medium speeds (150-200m/min) and electronically engraved cylinders. For the use of G STAR at other speeds (>400m/min), please contact your local Technical Department.

It is developed for reverse gravure printing on flexible films, suitable for lamination with water based, solvent based and solvent free adhesives. It covers the general applications in packaging & printing. It is recommended for printing on different types of lamination structures (chips, snacks, etc), which may or may not need pasteurization or sterilization (depending on the pigments used, contact our local Technical Department).

Sungrace

SUNGRACE series ink is developed for reverse gravure printing and lamination on range of flexible films using good quality solvent based and solvent less adhesives. The SUNGRACE series can be used for in-line/off-line process with a wide range of printing speeds ranging from medium to high speeds printing and lamination (250-500m/min) with electronically engraved cylinders.

The SUNGRACE series covers the general applications in packaging & printing. It is recommended for printing on different types of laminating structures (chips, snacks, etc) which may or may not need pasteurization or sterilization (depending upon the pigments used, contact your local Technical Department).

Due to the great variety of films available in the market, it is recommended that laboratory scale trials are done prior to the industrial printing of these substrates. To print on substrates not on this list, please contact DIC local Technical Department.

UVA

UNIVURE-A (UVA) is a multipurpose toluene-based lamination ink designed for various kinds of food packaging such as snack-foods, pickles, shampoo sachets, detergents, frozen-foods, boil-able and retort-able pouches (on request). It is used for 3 layer jobs and is amongst the highest quality inks of DIC.

Main Properties:

  • Excellent ink transfer, printability, very good color reproduction, low solvent retention. 
  • Excellent bonding strength in various lamination systems.

Substrates 

  • Corona and chemical treated PET films
  • Corona treated Nylon films (treatment not less than 52 dynes  / cm)
  • Corona treated OPP films (treated not less than 38 dynes / cm)
  • PVDC coated films Cellophane film (Printing grade)

SUNEX

SUNEX Inks are Toluene free multipurpose printing inks series for reverse lamination gravure application on variety of flexible films using solvent based and solvent less adhesives. The SUNEX series inks can be used with a wide range of printing speeds for in-line as well as off line lamination process. The formulation has been adjusted for medium to high speeds (200-400 m/min) with electronically engraved cylinders.
It covers all the general applications in food packaging for printing on different types of lamination structures for packing products like (snacks, fertilizers, pickles, dry milk powders, frozen foods etc), which may or may not need pasteurization or sterilization.

  • Chemically treated polyester
  • Corona treated polyester 
  • Corona treated BOPP

HIKARI

HIKARI Inks are Toluene and Ketone free multipurpose printing inks series for reverse lamination gravure application on a variety of flexible films using solvent based and solvent less adhesives. It can be used with a wide range of printing speeds for in-line as well as offline lamination process.

It covers all the general applications in food packaging for printing on different types of lamination structures for packing products like (snacks, fertilizers, pickles, dry milk powders, frozen foods etc), which may or may not need pasteurization or sterilization (depending on the choice of pigments used – contact DIC Technical Department).

  • Corona treated polyester
  • Corona treated BOPP 

RA

RA series inks are not suitable for lamination. RA series inks are formulated for rotogravure surface printing onto PVC Film for twist wrap and shrinkable sleeves. Typical applications are in confectionery packing and shrink sleeves for beverage bottles.

Main Properties:

  • Excellent adhesion, giving excellent scuff and abrasion resistance. 
  • Good color strength at normal ink film weight. 
  • Colors have reasonable degree of light fastness but may not withstand extended exposure to sunlight. If improved light fastness is required this should be specified at time of order. 

Substrate

  • RA series inks have excellent adhesion on PVC film

SWI

SWI-Series inks are formulated for rotogravure surface/reverse printing onto PVC Film for twist wrap and shrinkable sleeves. Typical applications are in confectionery packing and shrinkable sleeves for beverage bottles etc.

Main Properties:

  • Excellent adhesion, good scuff and abrasion resistance. 
  • Good color strength 
  • Colors have reasonable degree of light fastness but may not withstand extended exposure to sunlight. If required improved light fastness this should be specified at time of order.

Substrate

  • Reverse non lamination sleeves shrinkable and non-shrinkable PET and PVC film for paints and shampoo containers.

Reverse Lamination

SOLIPROP TAP

Soliprop TAP is a solvent based multipurpose ink system for the gravure and flexo printing of a variety of common flexible packaging substrates for both surface and reverse applications. 

Main Properties:

  • High bond strength on a variety of films when used in combination with correct adhesive, excellent flexo and gravure printability
  • Good adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, low retained solvent levels when dried correctly, good heat-seal resistance up to  170°C – 180°C, high gloss levels (For surface print applications, additives compounds are available to improve the scratch resistance or improve slip properties)

Duraflex series

DuraFlex PG is a premium gravure solvent based ink series for multiple substrates for the lamination jobs. These inks have high bond strength on a variety of films when used in combination with correct adhesive, excellent gravure printability, very high heat seal bonds, suitable for the printing of polyester, nylon (OPA) and polyethylene, low retained solvent levels when dried correctly, don’t contain TDI or any organo tin compounds.

Substrate

  • Corona and primed PET
  • PVDC coated polyester
  •  Nylon
  • BOPP
  • OPP acrylic coated
  • Treated PE film.

 

DURAFLEX PM is a mono-solvent based gravure lamination ink designed for high-speed printing on several films. 

These inks have high bond strength in relation to the adhesive used. Once laminated the film is perfectly sealable on the printed area. 

Main Properties:

  • Ester inks (ethyl acetate)
  • Excellent printability
  • Printable on several plastic films
  • Single pack system
  • Does not contain TDI or organo-tin compounds
  • Low level of retained solvent when printed

Substrate

  • Corona or chemical treated PET films
  • Corona treated Nylon films (treated not less than 520 mN / cm)
  • Corona treated OPP films (treated not less than 380 mN / cm)
  •  PVDC coated films
  • Cellophane film (Printing grade)

 

Duralam TG is specially designed for gravure high speed printing on PET, OPA and OPP films for laminates. Dry ink films of Duralam TG have a low level of odor and contain only small amounts of residual solvents. Laminates with Duralam TG provide good bond strength, normally in the range above 2.5 N/15 mm. The quality of the laminates depends on the proper choice of film and adhesive. The inks are suitable for lamination with solvent-based and solvent-free adhesives.

Substrate

  • PET-film, PVC coated PET-film and PA-film. 
  • Inline corona treatment is recommended

SOLIMAX AP

Solimax AP is a range of high strength solvent based colors specifically formulated for both surface print and reverse printed adhesive lamination applications across an extensive range of flexible packaging substrates. Suitable for both Flexographic and Rotogravure processes.

Main Properties:

  • Excellent stability based on Sun Chemical social concentrates. 
  • Excellent printability, low levels of retained solvents, high lamination bond strengths and high heat resistance. 
  • Suitable for use on a wide variety of flexible packaging films.

  • Corona treated polypropylene
  •  Corona treated polyethylene
  •  OPA, PVDC Coated Polyester and Aluminum Oxide coated Polyester

 

Surface Printing

TWINN

Twinn inks are formulated for Rotogravure surface printing onto a range of substrates with good color strength at printing viscosity.

Main Properties:

  • Double side printing with no blocking tendency
  •  Anti static properties, good COF for packing machines, good adhesion, good scuff and abrasion resistance.
  • Good heat resistance with excellent jaw release properties.

Substrate

  • Polypropylenes films
  • Paper and washed aluminum foil paper 
  • Treated polypropylene
  •  Pearlized OPP 
  • Polyethylenene film.

LAR (Metallic inks)

LAR Series inks are Metallic inks specially formulated for rotogravure surface printing on to a range of cigarettes carton boards.

Main Properties:

  • Good printability, good gloss, good scuff and abrasion resistance
  • High color strength at normal ink film weight with no blocking.  
  • Accepts inline cutting and creasing. 
  • Reasonable degree of light fastness, high brilliance, antistatic behavior and dynamic friction of coefficient for smooth running of HL packs on the cigarettes packing machines. 

Substrate

  • Coated bleached board
  • Coated white duplex board and paper 

LMR/LKR

LMR/LKR inks are specially formulated for rotogravure surface printing on to a range of board substrates for cigarettes/non cigarettes jobs.

Main Properties:

  • Good printability, good gloss & good rub resistance
  • Low foaming potential and good heat resistance
  • High color strength and accepts inline cutting and creasing.

Substrate

  • Coated/uncoated board and all types of papers

FN/RN

FN/RN inks are formulated for Rotogravure surface printing onto a range of
substrates with good color strength at printing viscosity. They have no blocking
tendency, anti-static properties, good COF for packing machines, good adhesion,
good scuff and abrasion resistance, good heat resistance with excellent jaw release
properties.

Substrate
FN/RN inks are quite suitable to print polypropylenes films, paper and washed Al.foil
paper etc. with good adhesion on treated polypropylene, Pearlized OPP and
polyethylenene film.

Mr. Lee Ji Xiang Jason

Mr. Jason is a Regional Internal Audit Director of DIC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (“DICAP”), with overall responsibility for the governance, internal controls and audit of DIC Companies in the Asia Pacific Region. His 15-year career started off in PriceWaterHouse Coopers LLP Singapore as an external Auditor and joined DIC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd in May 2016 as a Regional Internal Audit Manager before progressing to his current role in January 2021.. Mr. Jason brings with him a wealth of more than fifteen years experience in the field of all Income Tax, financial, operational and compliance audits, and facilitates risk management and mitigation processes. He is also a Director of DIC India Limited. Mr. Jason has a Bachelor’s in Accountancy (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant registered with Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.

Anam Yousaf is the HR Business Partner of DIC Pakistan. She has diversified experience of more than 8 years in Human Resource Management, Internal Auditing and Finance. She holds ACCA certification along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and Finance. She also has a certification in Human Resources Management.

Mr. Muhammad Salman Bari

Supply Chain Manager

Mr. Salman Bari is the Supply Chain Manager at DIC Pakistan Ltd., and Category Lead in Solvents Procurement for Packages Group. He holds BS Chemical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. He acts as a key representative in DIC Asia Pacific Supply Chain Regional Team and has a dynamic experience in multiple Supply Chain functions including Procurement, Inventory Management, Demand Planning, Supply Risk Mitigation, Warehouse Management & Logistics.

Muhammad Adeel comes with 12 years of diversified manufacturing management experience that includes production management, plant maintenance management, plant & machine budgeting, installation, and new infrastructure design projects. He holds BS Chemical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore. He is overseeing the development of a new manufacturing facility for the Company.

Muzammil Khan  has a Masters in Chemistry and a vast experience of more than 27 years in the printing ink industry. While working at DIC Pakistan, he has received extensive technical trainings by international DIC/Sun Chemical Group Companies in Europe and Asia. He is responsible for overall design and development of all kinds of printing inks.

Mr. Paul Koek is the Regional Finance Director of DIC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, a subsidiary of DIC Corporation Japan. Mr. Paul Koek is responsible for financial activities of entities in South East Asia, Oceania and South Asia Region Mr. Paul Koek has more than 21 years of work experience in the field of regional tax, group accounting and treasury management. He has been a Non Executive Director of DIC Pakistan Ltd. since 13 June, 2000. He holds a Certified Public Accountant qualification and is registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore. He is a Fellow Member (FCCA) with the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and a Senior Member with the Association of Accounting Technicians.

Syeda Henna Babar Ali

(Chairperson Non- Executive Director)

Syeda Henna Babar Ali, Chairperson of the Board brings a wealth of experience and expertise to DIC. She joined Packages Limited in 1990 as Product Manager, became Brand Manager, and Group Brand Manager and then Advisor Business Unit Consumer Products, a designation she still actively holds. She was schooled at the Convent of Jesus and Mary and Cathedral School Lahore. After completing her Senior Cambridge and Higher Senior Cambridge, she was admitted to Kinnaird College as a private student from where she completed her BA in 3 months and proceeded to the US, to study Literature at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for her BA (1976) and MA (1981).

After returning to Pakistan, she experimented with a publishing house, Indus Publications (Pvt) Limited 1982, worked at The Nation with Arif Nizami and finally joined Packages in 1990.

While at Packages Limited, she has received extensive professional training by taking the American Management Association Certifications, LUMS courses in Advertising Management, New Product Development, Women in Management, Stanford University Executive Development Course in Marketing Management, Strategy Development and Family Business management from IMD. Her most recent certifications include Cornell University’s Leadership Certificate, Marketing Strategy Certificate. She is also a Jack Canfield Certified Coach in Law of Attractions and Success Principles which she teaches to the Packages Group Management and trains the trainer.

She is also an Advisor of the Packages Group Advisory Committee.
